Events leading the civil war


1) The Missouri Compromise
 a. The Louisiana purchase was lead by slavery which was agreed by the state.
 b. There was northern large population which affected the settlers.
2) The Abolinist Efforts
 a. Took roots of the 1830s
 b. They tried to free slaves immediately, for equal rights.
 c. Other basic reasons; no corporeal punishment, morally wrong, banned by religion;
 d. The leading figures are: Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Harriet Tubman
3) South and slavery
 a. 80% of white people had no slaves, 19% of  white farmers had slaves, and 1% of large plant white farmers owned 50 or more slaves.
 b. No taking care of. They don't consider the slave as human beings. They served the people and that's it.
 c. Average price is 1000-1800$ per field for slaves.
