Globalization:

Globalization is the mix of culture, society and economies in the planet.

Cultures globalization results as music and literatures. Society globalizations results as china town in different cities of the world. Economic globalization results as consumption of products made in China or in Thailand.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

1) People get open minded thanks to globalization. Globalization makes people wonder what the world has and new cultures to explore. Therefore, we will have less racism.

2) There will be a better communication between people.

3) Consumption of products that are made all over the world

Cons:

1) The problem with globalization is that people are getting open to one specific culture, but as a result, other cultures are less heard of today. We are open too much on American culture, which makes other cultures such as pigmy cultures less known.

2) With multinationals, there is no more coffee or cotton sold in markets, but made in manufacturing industries. This causes some poverty in some places.

IBAT Product: Fuel Cells

Product: Fuel Cells

Name of Company: IBAT (International Business of Advanced Technology)

1) Products of Company: Advanced Technology; Fuel cells.

What are fuel cells?

Fuel cells will be used in cars and other transportation utilities (busses, trucks, trains) as a replacement to the fossil energy combustion. The system we propose is based on a dual cell to have redundancy to make sure that energy will be always available and get rid of refueling constraint. While one cell will provide electricity the other one will get naturally refueled and will be used when the first one need refueling.

The proposed mechanism would extract Hydrogen from the water in the air (humidity) and then get it the process of hydrogen fuel cell. The hydrogen fuel cell will then create energy to be used by cars or any other machine.

2) Horizontal nature of company: China, United States and England.

Why these places?

We selected China because it will be the biggest markets in few years.

United States is the biggest car market today and there is a huge awareness of the green energy and pollution related aspects and we believe that our products will be very successful.

England will be our landing point to address the European market. Thanks to its cultural proximity to the United States we believe England is the best choice to address Europe.

3) Vertical Nature of the Company: Sources

What will you need?

We would tie up a very strong partnership with the university where we graduated and their chemistry and physics laboratories would work hand in hand with our lab to continually enhance our product.

Our product would be a highly technological product and would require a very high level of security to protect our intellectual rights and also to protect the employees that will build it. For this we would choose a country with high standard of employment (qualified engineers for the design part, qualified laborers for the production part, country of law for our intellectual rights).

Raw materials needed for the product are synthetic substances with the less weight possible to make sure that the end product will not use much of energy to be transported.

Our model is a Business To Consumer model and we have chosen to market our product through a network or distributor and not directly. We would deliver our product to central locations or our distributors and they will be in charge to getting the product at the selling point or at the customer place if they decide to sell the product via the internet. Our company will be focused on the product and its enhancement, security and not on the distribution part.

4) Energy: Government

What energy source?

We would need electric energy provided by the electricity utility company. Our production plant would not use much energy.

We would also ask for Government incentives since we would help in the effort of saving the planet. The incentives would be used to get the companies stronger and able to invest in better technology not only to make profit. That will be against the spirit and the mission of our company.

5) Raw materials resources: Elements

The furnishers of the raw materials will come from nations who actually manufacture our product when possible. The raw material would also be synthetic materials that will be purchased from the chemical industry sector.

6) Labor: The workers and the payment

We would use highly qualified labors and would require a high level of privacy to ensure to intellectual rights of our product. At the same time, we would not have all the production in the same site for the same purpose. We would pay our employees better than any other company and share with them the profit. We see our company as creative not only for the environment but also in the relationship between employers and employee.

7) Government and Regulations: Compromise

We will have to work with the government and find compromises since we will from one hand we will propose an alternative to fossil fuel and that will help in reducing pollution and the global warming process.

From the other hand, the government is collecting a lot of taxes (large part of the fossil fuel cost) and may lose this income. We need to find fair solution that will still enable to government to tax our product but at the same time to give incentive customer to buy our products.

We will work with the government because they will give us the energy for the cells we asked for earlier. After that, they will benefit 5% of the gains per product sold.

8) Profit: Mr. Warren Buffet

We would explain to Mr. Warren Buffet that our product would be the universal product that would not have ecological impact in its life cycle. The hydrogen collected from the air will be transformed back in the air during the energy production. There is no cost in producing the energy then, there will be no shortness in hydrogen since all hydrogen used will be made available again.

The business model proposed will be based on usage of our product and not one shot price at purchase. We would rent the machine or get paid based on the quantity of hydrogen collected. Hydrogen meters would be placed in each or our products and would push the information on our global billing system that will produce invoices and get transfer made automatically. Delinquent customer would have couple of days to pay unless their machine will be stopped and they will have to pay a fee to reactivate it.

So Mr. Buffet will have to finance the project and get revenue for ever without additional investment.

Revolutions in Morocco

I wanted to write about revolutions in Morocco which concerned human rights because human rights evolved a lot this last decades. Three revolutions seem important to me in this domain, which are:

-Resistance against France and Spain.

-IER (Instance Equité et Réconciliation)

-Movement for women rights.

1) Resistance and brawl against France and Spanish:

Morocco was occupied by France and Spain in 1912. Moroccans plan to organize themselves with progress to free themselves from occupants. The movement of the resistance spreads there ideas to all parts of Morocco to join their battle for freedom, therefore, there were more resistants (men and women) in cities, countrysides, mountains, deserts, etc...

One of many actions which lead to Morocco's liberation was the strike of independance in 1944. Mohamed V, who still fights for independance is exiled to Madagascar in 1953. His departure creates fights, strikes, etc... With this in mind, France chooses a new King for Morocco, Mohamed Ben Araffa, who was rejected by the population.

The fight for independance continues with the demanded return of the kingdom's previous King. In 1955, France, under pressions of Moroccan revolution, is forced to bring Mohamed V back, and is forced to leave Morocco and leave it with it's independance in 1956.

2) IER (Instance Equité et Réconciliation):

After Mohamed V's death, Morocco has a new king, Hassan II. His reign lasts 38 years (1961-1999) with a balance sheet of postive and negative points. A couple of years before his death, Hassan II engaged Morocco in a democratic process.

After his death, his son Mohamed VI, created an authority of IER. This authority was asked to brighten the previous dark years (années de plombs) where Hassan II was still dominant. This caused several people to be arrested, tortured and disappeared. This authority made investigations on each case including public testemonies in the various medias (TV, radio, newspaper, books, etc...). The victims have received componsations but more important, they have been recognized being victims of previous regime. This has been a revolution not only in Morocco, but in the whole Arab world. It was the second experience in Africa after South African forced apparted reconciliation process.

3) Movement of women's right:

The movement of women's rights is present since the independance, but society was closed to any new movement concerning women. Progress has been realized thanks to the women effort and the King Mohamed VI support. Laws have been enhanced on the social side of the citizens rights. As an example the following areas have been changed drastically:

a. Family code (in the previous code, wives were due to obey their husbands).

b. Penal code (the same penalty is applied for wife and husband in case of murder after red-handed adultery).

Other changes have occured in the objective to equalise men and women's rights.

These three revolutions are important to me because they had a direct impact on the day to day life and seems to be the basis of a deeper changge in human rights.

Congressional Reconstruction

Johnson's Reconstruction Plan: Johnson made his own reconstruction plan after Lincoln's. He fixed points such as:

1) The forgiveness of the Southerners who were loyal to the Union.

2) A state had the right to negate secession, to abolish slavery and renounce the Confederate debate.

3) States could join the Union.

Black Codes: Black codes are commands that cutdown freedmen's rights. Some Black Codes are:

1) Curfews: Predominately, black people could not gather after sunset.

2) Vagrancy laws: Freedmen with no employment could be beaten anytime.

3) Labor contracts: Freedmen had to sign covenants for employment. If they quit in the middle of their contract, they would lose all their money.

4) Land restriction: Freedmen would live in crops, unless that had enough money to rent homes and lands only in rural areas.

14th Amendment: Republicans were full of rage after the disobedience of the Southerners. Republicans blamed the President Johnson for return to power. The congress amended the Constitution to end Johnson's reconstruction plan. In 1868, the congress put in place a Civil Right Act that banned Black Codes which was later known as the 14th Amendment. Johnson objected to the idea and tried to convince the congress, but failed. The congress wouldn't listen to Johnson's answer since he had no more mandates to govern.

15th Amendment: The 15th Amendment is a Civil Right Act that assure all males that can vote. The Amendment was included for African Americans, too, which was a form of anti-racism. This showed that the U.S. was a little less racist.

Radical Reconstruction: Two groups were formed after the failure of Johnson's reconstruction plan, Radicals and Moderates. They both supported Republican spread through the South, the opposition to Black Codes and Johnson's reconstruction plan, but Moderates were less enthusiastic as the Radicals to in-store more civil rights for Black People.

CarpetBagger: A carpetbagger is a stereotype to categorize Northerners who moved to the Confederacy after the war. The name carpetbagger is taken from the Northerners habit of picking a few clothes and stuffing them in a carpetbag. They would then travel to the South for a new life.

Scalawag: A scalawag is an insult swearing a Republican after the Civil War. Originally comes from somewhere in the U.K., which means scrawny cattle.

The After war

As the Southerners went on in their lives, they didn't know what was going to happen to them. They were worthless, and had no thought future. the Confederate (South) dollar went down, as the rest of their economy. When they returned to their homes, they found the homes ravished and destroyed because of the war. The Southerners were really in a bad social position.

However, the freed slaves weren't that happy after all. They were free, and had rights, but most of them were homeless, and didn't have nutrition supply. They were in need of everything.

Technologically, the South were down. The shipping was destroyed with the war.

Effects of War- World War 2

The ESPRAT+G standards involved in World War 2 were;

Geography: After the war, Germany was divided into four quadrants, each controlled by the United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. These nations formed an alliance called the Allied Powers. 

Economy: The European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) was founded by 6 nations. Luxembourg, Netherlands, West Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. The objective of this populace was to gather all the steel and coal of the participating countries, and to strength the economy of each country. Unfortunately, this caused tensions between nations who were enemies at the war. The group grew, and later on changed it's name to the European Union.

Technology: Technology progressed massively during and after the war. The research for nuclear weapon design impacted the scientific community. Code breaking was involved. The Colossus project helped the war.

Society: The drawbacks of society were that women served the war and took the place of many men. Fortunately, this reduced in the following years. The Red Army (the soviets at the time) daily sexually abused of young girls and women at all age. This left more than 2,000,000 women and daughters raped after the war. Children that fought in the war serving Germany had no privileges after and during the war.

Politics: The league of nations did not see the war coming, there fore a band of nations formed a new international alliance called the United Nations (UN). The UN was more alive and active than the league of nations in topics such as fighting diseases and human aid in the world, but also was involved in diplomatic affairs.

The Ken Burns Video

The facts: 

Ken Burns proved that 2% of the American population died in the civil war. (600,000 carcasses) The carcasses were found in diverse locations. The war was fought in varied places of America. (10,000 places all around America) The economy was touched; money was harder to gain.

Veterans of the Civil War would be respected through the whole country. The oldest veteran who ever lived was around 115 years old.

Abraham Lincoln was recognized as the greatest President that the United States has ever had. He was a leading figure of the U.S. He was a great abolitionist, and was model for some abolitionists.

 Abolitionists weren’t a superior political party, but they had leading ideas in their party. The most famous female abolitionist was Harriet Tubman, who served a spy for the government, but also as a nurse, and saved many lives in the civil war.

 Nat Turner led the Nat Turner revolution after himself. Rebel slaves for equal rights leaded this revolution for all. These slaves killed 55 white people, the highest number of killed in the South.

 

 

Northern and Southern advantages

North:

The North was more industrial than the the South. There are many more industries in the North than the South. The South had 110,000 industries compared to the North who had 20,000 industries. The North was more technology wise than the South. The North had 70% of the railroads of the whole nation. North was more abolitionist than the South, which favored them in the Compromise of 1850. The North had more military weapon supply; guns, ammunitions, etc...

The North was wealthier than the South, because they had more banks, and more money invested in the economy. Increased population

South:

The South had a good reputation for it's military colleges. These colleges formed generals and captains for war. Most of the war declared by the South were won. The war strength of the South was that they wouldn't declare war, but defend themselves. But the South was known for a major activity; raising cotton. They made over 70% of world wide cotton, and were the nation with the strongest exports of cotton.

Moroccan Political Parties

We have four political parties in Morocco which  are: the right, the left, the center and the Islamist.

The right parties ensure connection between religion and throne, and they are more of government wise part, only actions including the economy. 

The left parties are more of a social party. They work with the people in topics such as integrity and the people's life.

The center parties focuses more on the standards of life within a society. They want more integration and more wealth for the society.

The Islamist parties is a bit more on religion. It's focused on religion and society.

Events leading the civil war

1) The Missouri Compromise

 a. The Louisiana purchase was lead by slavery which was agreed by the state.

 b. There was northern large population which affected the settlers.

2) The Abolinist Efforts

 a. Took roots of the 1830s

 b. They tried to free slaves immediately, for equal rights.

 c. Other basic reasons; no corporeal punishment, morally wrong, banned by religion;

 d. The leading figures are: Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Harriet Tubman

3) South and slavery

 a. 80% of white people had no slaves, 19% of  white farmers had slaves, and 1% of large plant white farmers owned 50 or more slaves.

 b. No taking care of. They don't consider the slave as human beings. They served the people and that's it.

 c. Average price is 1000-1800$ per field for slaves.

Google News-Morocco

Moroccan arts increased gigantly in the couple of years that passed. Most of the arts are concentrated in the foods and the dresses. Many "souks" are famous in Morocco. Jamal Efna is one of the most famous in Morocco. The Jellaba is the most famous Moroccan dress. The Kaftan is for the women. Another branch of Moroccan art is the food. Tajin is the best example. Mosques and buildings are really artistic and traditional in Morocco. The last example of moroccan art that I can think of is paintings. In modern Morocco, many painters have created tremendous pieces of work.

Compromise

Compromise means an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. In order for Compromise to work, you're supposed to have two people or nations agreeing on certain conditions for peace. In a teenager's life, compromise won't work if the agreement is negative, and is a draw back to his society. Compromise won't work politically if two nations talk about destruction or negatives in the world.

If I were to emigrate someplace, my destination would fit the EPRAT +G standards.

T: Technology	LA has the largest digital imaging companies. LA port is one of the largest logistic center in the world.

E: Economics	Montreal is an active city in the French speaking state in Canada. It is concentrating most of the French speaking industries. Montreal economy has grown fast in the latest years. Montreal’s economy is based on a capitalist system. The main areas of the industry are aeronautics, telecommunications, and engineering. Unlike most of the countries, Canada has not been hit by the financial crisis.
S: Social	The society is multi cultural and multi racial, which means that a lot of people immigrated to Canada. Some for business, others for a new life.  It is a land of emigration, where structures are in place to welcome the immigrants.
P: Politics	Montreal politic system is based on the Canadian federal system. Montreal politics is also based on Quebec state rules. Canada is a democracy where state is independent from religion.
R: Religion	Montreal is multicultural society like Los Angeles.  There is no dominant religion in Montreal, all religions are equally practiced.
A: Arts	Montreal is famous for couple of art manifestations. The Jazz festival, The Laugh festival.
T: Technology	Montreal is famous for its good aeronautics, software engineering, and electronic goods plan.

E: Economics	Dubai was built in the back of oil industry, and has had a very fast growing economy. To prepare the future (and of fossil energy) Dubai’s economy is now based on tourism, real estate and financial services. It is based on a capitalist system. Dubai, like many other countries, has been seriously hit by the financial crisis.
S: Social	Even though Dubai has a cosmopolitan population, it is not as open as it seems. People’s freedom is subject to some limitation due to some traditions and religion rules, to be obeyed by all Dubai residents. The Dubai immigration is usually for a short period compared to the ones in North America.
P: Politics	Dubai politic system is based on the U.A.E. federal system. Dubai politics system is also based on Dubai Emirates state rules. U.A.E. is a kingdom, and Dubai is a Emirate.
R: Religion	Dubai is a Muslim country and all habitants have to make sure to not offend the local traditions and believe.
A: Arts	Dubai’s architecture can be considered as being a modern art. Some of the giant real estate projects required great inspiration, thinking, and engineering to express the Dubai people vision of the future.
T: Technology	Dubai authorities have created many centers of excellence for IT. Most of the great actors of IT are present there.
+G: Geography	Dubai weather is extreme and its temperature is between XX in winter and XX in summer. Beside of the heat Dubai is a very humid city in Summer. My Explore Morocco

This explore morocco was kind of negative. We went to a region called Ait Bougamez which is a really pretty place in souther east of Morocco. We stayed in a guest house which was comfy. We slept on mattresses while the girls slept in beds. We went to explore that region, with a great guide called Hassan. The region was wonderful and it taught us a lot.

Vocabulary

Natural rights: Rights that are given to you by birth.

Social contract: It’s an agreement between two parties between citizens.(groups vs. citizens)

Agreement is based on our natural rights. 

Popular of sovereignty: The right to vote for every main election.

Right of self determination:Two different states in one country with different beliefs, and they decide for themselves.

Right to revolution: The right to revolution is to start a revolution when the government tries to do a dictatorship

Constitution

What is constitution?

A constitution is a body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledge to be governed. A constitution should be leaded by some leaders called politicians and ministers. It's like a political environment. Some constitutions aren't doing so well. Others lead their country with exceptional standards.

Earthquakes

An earthquake struck in the Samoa Islands setting a new world record on the richter scale, showing 8.3. This earthquake caused 3 tsunamis on the Islands. In Indonesia, an earthquake struck in the country's capital, Jakarta, showing 7.6 on the scale. At least 1,100 people died in the earthquake. United Nations humanitarian chief, John Holmes thinks that more people are trapped in the earthquake and he fears that the numbers will rise as more info. is available. The region has difficulties in telecommunication, power, and roads. Heavy rain fall might have erased the efforts of the rescuers. Corpses are outside of Pandang hospital,ready to be gone.

My goals

My goals this year is to succeed with excellent grades this year, and have a bright future. Most of my goals are related to school work, but I would also like to attend the soccer world cup in South Africa this year. Its really important to me because I'm a big soccer fan. My other goal is to have a new bike. To have that, I should work hard. I would also like to speak Spanish fluently.

Rights

I think that everybody should have rights like the the Civil Right Act in 1964, where Lydon Baines Johnson declared civil rights for skin and sex. Most rights that I would like to install:

1. Civil rights should include no racism what si ever with any kind of people.

2. Civil rights should include freedom of speech and saying what thy think is right or wrong.

3. Civil rights should also include revolutions.
